Night Shift Dispatcher

Ordering Base Inc. is a Philadelphia-based truck dispatching company founded in 2023. We support owner-operators and small fleets across the United States with load booking, rate negotiation, route planning, broker setup, credit checks, invoicing and 24/7 driver communication. Our dispatchers work load boards and broker networks every day so carriers stay loaded, paperwork stays clean, and money moves after delivery. ROLE SUMMARY

Night Shift Dispatcher: protect our 24/7 promise with calm overnight coverage and clean morning handoffs.

When day dispatch goes home, you become the voice of Ordering Base for drivers on the road. You handle appointment changes, delays, breakdowns and urgent booking needs, then leave the day team a clear, complete handoff. This role is for reliable people who stay sharp when it is quiet, and decisive when it is not.

DAY-TO-DAY / SCHEDULE

Overnight and weekend rotation supporting Philadelphia operations. After training, strong performers may have flexible remote coverage options, but reliability and communication standards stay the same. You will live on phone, text and WhatsApp, with structured notes for every incident.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor and answer driver calls, texts and WhatsApp throughout the night shift and weekend blocks.

• Handle appointment changes, late arrivals, detention questions and receiver issues in real time.

• Coordinate roadside assistance and keep brokers informed during breakdowns.

• Update ETAs and document every decision so morning dispatch is not guessing.

• Book overnight or next-day freight when it fits hours, equipment and the driver’s plan.

• Escalate serious incidents to on-call leadership using our playbook.

• Avoid unnecessary check calls that burn driver sleep while remaining reachable for real problems.

• Protect tone: calm, clear, respectful, even with frustrated drivers or brokers at 2 a.m.

• Prepare a written handoff summarizing open loads, issues and follow-ups before shift end.

• Maintain accurate logs for accountability and continuous improvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Dispatch, brokerage, trucking operations or after-hours support experience preferred.

• Proven reliability on nights/weekends; self-directed without constant supervision.

• Strong spoken and written English.

• Able to work nights, weekends and holidays on a published rotation.

• Comfortable making judgment calls and escalating correctly.

• Eligible to work in the United States.

NICE TO HAVE

• Prior night-shift, answering-service or 24/7 operations experience.

• Familiarity with shipper/receiver appointment systems and common U.S. freight corridors.

• Experience supporting owner-operators specifically.
